I have trained on and off in a number of Martial Arts.
I began training with WSKC when Laura showed an interest. My main drivers were self defense and improving my fitness at the time but this has now changed.

I now see karate as an important part of life.

At about 1980 - ish, I wanted to join a Kung Fu club ( I was a big Bruce Lee fan. ) However, there were no clubs in my area so I joined a Judo club with a friend but I kept getting bad headaches !
Then I stumbled across a place called "Wirral Shotokan Karate Club" at the Birkenhead YMCA, and in September 1980 I joined and I've been there ever since !
I cannot imagine life without Karate !
My very first Sensei was Sheila Birkett, or "No Yamae Sheila", as she was affectionately known !
